The Cape Cod Café began in 1939 getting the name from its location in Brockton on Route 28, back when that was the only way to get to the Cape!

In 1947, after serving overseas in World War II, E. James “Papa” Jamoulis purchased the Cape Cod Café. While alternating between the bar and the kitchen, he looked for something delicious to serve the hungry men and women when they came to the bar after a hard day at the factory. This was when the original bar pizza was born. Of course, back then it was just known as pizza- the term South Shore bar pizza wasn’t used until many years later.
